Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNO): The School Education Department Wednesday said it has summoned all the stakeholders of Devki Arya Putri Patshala (DAPP) School Srinagar following the orders of closing the century old institution.
Top official at Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) said that all stakeholders have been summoned and the department will discuss the matter in a few days.
The official informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that “DSEK has intimated the parents and school officials to discuss and solve the matter. Hopefully, in the coming days we will resolve the matter.”
Meanwhile, the Srinagar district administration in an official communiqué to DSEK has said that the particular institution is facing financial downfall and outdated infrastructure issues for the last one year.
“The institution is facing financial downfall for the last one year and the building is in dilapidated condition for which the school has not sufficient funds to carry out the repair works,” it reads.
The official communiqué further states that the school administration is planning to close down the School from October-31 this year after conducting the annual examinations of the students.
Earlier, the students of DAPP held a protest against the move.
The 9th and 10th standard students in a protest alleged that the Srinagar district administration was mulling to construct the building by demolishing the school structure.
One of the protesting students said, “The administration is either befooling the students or themselves as the school didn’t collapse at that time when the devastating floods hit the valley, now how all of the sudden it will collapse.”
“Irony is that no stakeholder was taken on board while the decision of closing the school was made,” the students said—(KNO)
